DTAPS®
Background
The Disposable Toxicological Agent Protective System (DTAPS®)
is a family of fully integrated, tested, and modular personal
protection equipment designed for the civilian and military first
responder. The systems use the latest techniques for sealing,
proven materials, and customized breathing systems to ensure that
the user is fully protected. Our design eliminates the need for
costly integration of suits, masks, gloves, and boots, and totally
eliminates use of "duct tape" or "chem tape" - making the system
safer, more reliable, and tailorable to your needs. The DTAPS®
family of personal protective equipment provides the solution
to the problem of integrating a wide variety of components into
a truly workable, safe and effective system.
DTAPS® was developed for the Government by GEOMET
Technologies, LLC under a contract with the Technical Support
Working Group (TSWG). TSWG was established as the technology
development component of a Federal interagency group on countering
terrorism. TSWG is composed of various Executive Branch
agencies, including the Department of Defense, the Department
of State, and the Department of Justice.
The Department of Defense is responsible for TSWG program management.
DoD manages and executes the TSWG program through the Combating
Terrorism Technology Support Office. DTAPS®
was developed under the chemical, biological, radiological, and
nuclear countermeasures subgroup of TSWG under contract number
DAAD05-98-C-0012.
