Features and Benefits of the DTAPS® Level A Ensemble

Feature

Description

Benefit

Fully integrated and complete system

Complete system includes suit, gloves, boots & respiratorysystem; all individual components were configured & tested together as a unified system

' Satisfies operational need for safe, reliable & totally integrated system
' Allows total package procurement

Extensive suit material testing

Suit material tested against CW agents GA, GB, GD, HD, L & VX, the 21 ASTM F 1001 chemicals, plus over 200 additional chemicals

' Suit material has proven chemical resistance

Suit seam testing

Suit seams tested against CW agents GB, HD, L & VX

' Suit seams have proven chemical resistance
' Verifies integrity of suit seams and suit fabrication quality

Tested as an integrated system

Complete system compliant with SF6 inward leakage test protocol in NFPA 1994; system yielded a high overall protection factor when evaluated with the U.S. Army man-in-simulant test (MIST) per TOP 10-2-022; passed ASTM F 1359 shower spray test

' Verifies the safety & reliability of protective ensemble

Suit design

Totally-encapsulating suit with 3-layer (40 mil PVC/5 mil FEP/20 mil PVC) panoramic view visor & expanded SCBA pod

' Distinctive wrap-around visor provides greater field of vision than most other Level A suits
'Visor is wide enough for mask-mounted regulators
' SCBA pod fits any commercial open circuit or closed-circuit SCBA

Respiratory protective system

Interspiro 60-minute open circuit SCBA is recommended (any other commercial open-circuit or closed-circuit SCBA can be used)

' Interspiro system approved for use in CBRN environments
' Can be matched with user’s current operational SCBA
' Non-CBRN hardened SCBAs can be used

Suit closure

Vapor-tight zipper assembly with 2-ply double splash flaps

' Assembly prevents vapor intrusion
' Liquid will not penetrate coverall closure assembly
' 2-ply splash flap design will not wick liquids

Exhaust valves

Auer valves with molded elastomer covers plus fabric splash guards

' Exhaust valves provide proper air exhaust to prevent excess internal suit pressure (over inflation)
' Molded elastomer covers resist inward leakage
' Fabric splash guards give added protection from direct liquid splash

Glove system

24 mil neoprene/butyl gloves with Silver Shield/4H liners

' Neoprene/butyl gloves have combined resistance to chemical warfare agents & POLs
' Glove attachment assembly is vapor & liquid tight
' Gloves are easily changed out
' Glove liners provide additional chemical resistance

Booties

Integral booties and boot splash flaps incorporated into suit

' Provides vapor & liquid tight attachment to suit
' Splash flaps prevent liquid splash from entering boots

Boots

Boots are seamless PVC alloy with steel safety toe, full steel mid-sole & steel ladder shank; boots meet or exceed NFPA 1991 and NFPA 1994 chemical permeation resistance requirements

' Provide excellent impact protection
' Provide excellent cut & puncture resistance
' Provide excellent chemical resistance
